One Step at a TimeThe Spanish Steps photo from www.photo.net

Today my reading takes me to the book of Numbers. Moses is called upon to take a census of the people. What a tremendous undertaking this will be! Some estimate that the population of all the Hebrews who came out of Egypt was between four million and six million people. How do you handle a mamoth size task? I believe the same way you climb the Spanish Steps, on step at a time.

People are so often discouraged before they even begin when they face such a big challenge. Perhaps today, you are facing one of the biggest undertakings of your life. Perhasp you feel inadequate for the job. In Numbers Moses faces this huge task by breaking it down into smaller more manageable tasks. So household by household, and tribe by tribe he counts the Hebrew people. Counting them was an option for Moses. God told him to number the people. Therefore He had to count them to obey God. Perhaps the task God has given you seems to large an undertaking. Well, I have some good news for you from Paul's letter in 1Corinthians 10:13

No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond
the course of what others have had to face. All you need
to remember is that God will never let you down;
he'll never let you be pushed past your limit;
he'll always be there to help you come through it.

Remember that you will reach the top, one step at a time. You may not think you have the strength to go all the way, but just look at what God is asking you to do right now. I believe you can take just one more step, and if you do, one step at a time, you will finally reach the top!
