Realizing our DreamsAllisha and Alfred Campbell Laying Hold of Their Dream

Who would have believed that she bought her dress three years ago and could still wear it? Three years ago things just didn't work out the way they had hoped. Instead of having a church wedding, they had a simple civil ceremony. Unlike so many other people who only dream about doing things, Alfred and Allisha scheduled it and did it! For their third anniversary they celebrated by renewing their wedding vows at the church with family and friend their to witness the event complete with a reception following. It's wonderful to be their pastor and see their dream come true! Just look at their eyes!

This special event accomplished some great things. First it was a reinforcement of their marriage vows, to be faithful to one another "until death do us part." In a society where so many children grow up in broken homes, this was a wonderful way to give security to their children. Children need to see godly love and commitments modeled by their parents. One of our most treasured blessings is that both my parents and my wife's parents have modeled godly marriages that not only give security to their grown children but also to their grandchildren. Our society certainly needs Mom's and Dad's who will marry for life!

The other wonderful thing about Alfred and Allisha's celebration was the encouragement it gives others to pursue their dreams! This morning I would like to use these words from the Old Testament in 2 Chronicles 15:7 to encourage you.

But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.

Likewise Paul wrote the church in Galatians 6:9 telling them to hang in there even though you may not realize your dream immediately. God hasn't forgotten you, and He sees your faithfulness.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper
time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

This morning pursue your godly dreams. They can be realized, just like Alfred and Allisha's, and there will be such joy and celebration for you and encouragement for others. Have a blessed day.
